It’s not easy sticking to a healthy diet if you work in an office (or any work setting) where there’s a steady supply of junk food. My current office is notorious for always having some sweet treat available for the picking. Don’t despair, you can survive these temptations and here’s how:
- Build a “stash” of healthy snacks to keep in your office’s fridge and/or your workspace or office. Great ideas include: dried fruits, nuts, oatmeal, tea/honey, low-sugar protein bars (e.g. Lara) fresh fruit, and granola.
- Drink lots of water before heading to a work event where there will be junk food. Also, eat a snack beforehand and you’ll be less likely to binge.
- Take a cup of tea with you if possible; you’ll be less likely to graze if you’ve got your mug to hold onto.
- Bring a healthy side dish to a work celebration; worse case scenario you can eat what you brought and just eat a little bit of the unhealthy stuff.
Don’t give in to peer pressure! You can’t control what others eat but you can control what you eat. You’ll feel (and look) better for it 🙂 Hope these tips help and feel free to add your own.
